Decontamination cleaning in Glasgow
Some situations need more than a deep clean. Tell us what’s happened, in confidence, and add photos if you can. Glasgow is where our decontamination providers work, and we’ll tell you honestly whether one of them can do the job safely.

Say it plainly. Nobody needs the right word.
A provider has to judge two things from your request: whether this is work they do, and what it will take. Three things answer both.
- 1
What happened
A sentence or two is enough: a hoarded home, an unattended death, a sewage or flood leak, needles or drug use, an infestation, or bodily fluids after an illness.
- 2
The space and its condition
Which rooms, how much of each is affected, whether there’s furniture, waste or belongings to deal with, and whether water, power and heating are on.
- 3
Photos, if you can
Photos or a short video let a provider judge the risk and the time before visiting. If taking photos isn’t possible, or you’d rather not, say so and ask for a visit.
Anything dangerous right now, such as a gas smell, exposed wiring or structural damage? Call the emergency services or the utility first. Cleaning comes after.
The right person for the job. Or an honest no.
Standard cleaning on Cleanifiq excludes biohazard risks unless they’re agreed in advance. This page is where that agreement starts.
Bodily fluids, sharps, drugs, infestation or heavy hoarding can need protective equipment, specific products and a proper route for the waste. Not every provider does this work, and those who do don’t all take on every kind of it. So you describe the situation, and only providers willing to take on that job quote for it.
In Glasgow, four providers quoted decontamination requests in the last six months, so a request here usually reaches someone who does this work.
What they’ll wear and use
Ask what protective equipment and products they’ll bring for your situation. A provider who does this work will answer plainly.
Where the waste goes
Contaminated items, sharps and bulky rubbish each need the right disposal. Agree in the quote who removes what.
What happens to belongings
In a hoarded home, agree what’s kept, what’s set aside for you to check and what goes, before anything is moved.
Everything on the record
The quote, the scope and every message stay on the platform. If there’s a disagreement later, that record is what’s used.
Before the work starts, agree:
- who needs to be there to let the provider in, and who doesn’t
- whether anything must be kept, photographed or handed to you
- how many visits the job is expected to take
- that water and power are on, or what the provider should bring instead
Honest limit: we don’t publish accreditation claims for this work, and providers’ experience varies. Ask the provider about jobs like yours in the messages, read their reviews, and accept only a quote you’re comfortable with.
Free to request. You decide after you’ve seen the quote.
What providers take on, case by case.
These are the situations providers on Cleanifiq quote for. Whether a particular provider takes on your job is their decision, made from your description.
Hoarding and neglect
- Clearing rooms that have become hard to use
- Sorting with you, or to an agreed list
- A thorough clean once the space is clear
After a death or illness
- Cleaning once the property has been released to you
- Bodily fluids on hard surfaces
- Removing affected soft furnishings, by agreement
Sewage and flood water
- Cleaning hard surfaces after a leak or overflow
- Removing ruined carpets and soft items, by agreement
Needles and drug use
- Finding and bagging needles and paraphernalia
- Cleaning the affected surfaces
After pests
- Cleaning droppings and nesting material once pest control has treated the property
Not included unless a quote says so
- Pest control treatment itself
- Drying out, repairs or rebuilding after a flood
- Asbestos, chemical spills or industrial contamination
- Forensic or crime-scene work for the police
The scope is whatever the accepted quote says. Anything outside it is agreed in the platform before it’s done.

How much does decontamination cleaning cost in Glasgow?
We don’t publish a price range for decontamination. There have been too few of these jobs on Cleanifiq to make one fair, and no two situations are alike.
What we can tell you is how the price is built: providers quote for the time, the protective equipment and products, and the disposal of whatever has to leave the property. A visit usually comes before a firm price.
What affects the price
- How much of the property is affected
- What’s involved: bodily fluids, sharps, the volume of waste
- Disposal of contaminated and bulky waste
- Protective equipment and specialist products
- Access: floor, lift, stairs and parking
- How urgently it needs doing
Why quotes differ
Providers price risk and disposal differently. One may include taking everything away; another may quote the clean and leave the waste to you. Compare what each quote includes before comparing totals.
Protected from request to sign-off.
Your payment is held
You choose at checkout: pay a deposit (20% of the job, or the provider’s minimum call-out fee if that’s higher) or pay in full. If you pay a deposit, the balance is due by 7:30am on the day of the job. Your money goes to Cleanifiq, not the provider, and release to the provider starts the day after the job, once they’ve completed it on the platform.
Not right? Tell us within 48 hours
Tell us within 48 hours of the job, with photos or a short video of what isn’t right. Your provider gets 48 working hours to come back and put it right at no cost to you, and we hold their payment until it’s settled. If they can’t or won’t, you choose: the value of the unfinished items back as a refund or Cleanifiq credit, or a new, smaller job for just those items with another provider (you see the price before confirming anything).
Checked before they quote
Before a provider can take bookings we check photo ID, proof of address and public liability insurance, plus a criminal record check (Basic Disclosure Scotland or equivalent) and right to work where it applies. For companies we check a director’s ID, the business address, public liability insurance and Companies House status. Documents with expiry dates are re-checked when they expire. Every review on a provider’s profile comes from a booked, paid job. Cleanifiq’s insurance covers a new provider’s first three jobs while their own cover is being verified.
Keep it on the platform
Always pay through Cleanifiq, including for anything added on the day. Work paid for privately falls outside our guarantee, our insurance and our dispute resolution.
Where our providers are, and what to plan for.
Glasgow is the only city where Cleanifiq has providers regularly quoting decontamination work today. These are the local details that change the job.
Four providers who take this work on
Four providers quoted decontamination requests in Glasgow in the last six months. They don’t all take on every kind of job, which is why you describe the situation and each one decides whether to quote.
Tenement flats and shared closes
Waste from a tenement flat comes down a shared stair, often past neighbours. Say which floor it is and whether there’s a back court or bin store the provider may use. If the close itself is affected, the factor will need to know.
Getting waste away properly
In Scotland, waste carriers register with SEPA, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency. If anything is leaving the property, agree in the quote who removes it and ask how it’s being disposed of.

Decontamination Cleaning in Glasgow: your questions
- Cleaning where there’s a health risk beyond ordinary dirt: bodily fluids, needles or drug use, sewage, heavy hoarding, or droppings and nesting after pests. On Cleanifiq it’s quoted case by case, because the right method depends on the situation.
- It varies, and we don’t publish accreditation claims for this work. Ask the provider about jobs like yours in the messages, read the reviews on their profile (every one is from a booked, paid job), and accept only a quote you’re comfortable with.
- Glasgow requests across all services get a first quote in a median of about 6 minutes. Decontamination jobs often need a visit before a firm price, so allow time for that; if your timing is tight, say so in the description.
- Providers can quote once the property has been released to you, where the police were involved. Describe the room and roughly how long it was closed up, and each provider will tell you whether this is work they take on.
- It’s agreed in the quote. Some providers take contaminated and bulky waste away as part of the job, others quote the clean only. Ask how sharps and contaminated items will be disposed of before you accept.
- For jobs that need seeing first, some providers offer an in-person visit. Your first visit for a job is free (one free visit per postcode every 7 days); a second provider’s visit fee is shown before you book it and refunded if they cancel. A quote given after a visit is valid for up to 3 months.
- You choose at checkout: pay a deposit (20% of the job, or the provider’s minimum call-out fee if that’s higher) or pay in full. If you pay a deposit, the balance is due by 7:30am on the day of the job. Your money goes to Cleanifiq, not the provider, and release to the provider starts the day after the job, once they’ve completed it on the platform.
- Tell us within 48 hours of the job, with photos or a short video of what isn’t right.
- Yes, you can cancel your booking, but cancellation fees may apply depending on timing. More than 2 weeks before: full refund with no deductions. Between 2 weeks and 2 days before: a payment processing fee of 1.69%–5% (depending on payment method) is retained and the rest is refunded. Less than 2 days before (or failing to pay by 7:30 AM on cleaning day): your deposit is retained as a slot reservation fee. After the provider starts: you owe the minimum callout fee or work completed, whichever is greater. Whenever money comes back to you, you can take it as Cleanifiq credit instead of a refund, sometimes with a bonus on top. This policy keeps things fair for both customers and Glasgow providers.
