What can be cleaned depends on how your windows open.
In a flat the real question is whether the outside of the glass can be reached safely. The rule is simple, and it is about safety, not effort.
Ground-floor flats and houses
Outside glass can be cleaned from the ground with a 3-step ladder or a 2-metre pole, along with the inside and the frames.
Upper floors with tilt-in windows
Tilt-and-turn windows and tilt-in sashes open inwards, so the outside can be reached safely from inside the flat. Choose outside glass for these.
Upper floors with sliding sashes or fixed panes
Traditional sliding sashes and fixed panes can’t be reached from inside. Book the inside glass, the frames and the blinds; the outside isn’t part of a home booking.
The common stair and the close
Stair windows, the entrance door and back-court glass belong to the building. The factor or the owners arrange them, as a commercial window cleaning job for the stair.
Getting in on the day
Entry codes, a buzzer that works, where to park and which flat it is: put them in the booking notes so the provider isn’t stuck at the street door.

What each part of the job means at home.
Each part is a separate choice, so you book exactly what your home needs and pay for nothing else.
Inside glass
Glass, edges and corners on each window you choose, finished without streaks, and the inside sills wiped. Bedrooms and bathrooms usually need it most, because of condensation.
Outside glass
On the ground floor, or on windows that open inwards. Traffic film, pollen and bird droppings collect here first.
Frames and sills
Frames, tracks and sills hold the dirt that rain washes back onto clean glass. A separate choice, and worth adding at least now and then.
Blinds
Roller blinds dusted or gently wiped, Venetian blinds cleaned as fitted. Added per blind.
Before the provider arrives
- Clear the sills of plants, ornaments and photos
- Open the blinds and tie back the curtains
- Move furniture that blocks a window, or say where it is
- Keep pets away from open windows
- Leave out the keys for any window locks on tilt-in windows
Black spots along the seals and in the corners of sills are usually mould from condensation. Providers clean the glass and wipe the sills, but mould that has grown into silicone seals rarely cleans out: the seal needs replacing.

Condensation season
From autumn to spring, inside glass and sills in bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms collect condensation. Cleaning them before and after the winter helps keep mould from settling in.
Rain
Rain on clean glass dries with far fewer marks than rain on dirty glass; the spots after a shower mostly come from dirt washed down from the frames and sills. Light rain doesn’t stop a window clean.
Wind, ice and frost
Ladder work outside isn’t safe in high wind or on ice. If the forecast looks bad, message your provider through the platform; the inside glass can usually still go ahead.

Your payment is held
You choose at checkout: pay a deposit (20% of the job, or the provider’s minimum call-out fee if that’s higher) or pay in full. If you pay a deposit, the balance is due by 7:30am on the day of the job; if it isn’t paid by then, the booking counts as cancelled. Your money goes to Cleanifiq, not the provider, and is released to them only after they’ve completed the job on the platform. There is no booking fee on top: the price you’re shown is the price you pay.
Something not right?
Tell us within 48 hours of the job, with photos or a short video of what isn’t right. Your provider comes back to put it right at no cost to you, and we hold their payment until it’s settled. If they can’t or won’t, you choose: the value of the unfinished items back as a refund or Cleanifiq credit, a new, smaller job for just those items with another provider (you see the price before confirming), or both.
If your provider cancels
If your provider cancels, you never pay a cancellation fee. You choose a replacement provider (you see their price first) or a full refund. If you rebook the same service for the same date, any same-day or next-day surcharge on the replacement is covered.

- They belong to the building, so the owners decide together, usually through the factor or managing agent, and request commercial window cleaning for the stair. A home booking covers your own windows.
- It depends on where you live. Outside glass on a busy road or near trees and the sea gets dirty fastest; inside glass mostly needs attention in the condensation months. Each booking is a one-off, so book when the glass needs it.
- Inside glass, in any weather. Outside glass can be cleaned in light rain, which doesn’t spoil the result, but ladder work stops in high wind and on ice. If the forecast is bad, message your provider through the platform.
- You can request it for free, but no provider has quoted for home windows in Manchester yet. Inside glass can also be added to an end of tenancy or house clean, which do have active providers here.
- Clear the sills, open the blinds, move anything fragile or in the way, and leave out the keys for any locked tilt-in windows. Keep pets away from open windows.

- Before a provider can take bookings we check photo ID, proof of address and public liability insurance, plus a criminal record check (Basic Disclosure Scotland or equivalent) and right to work where it applies. For companies we check a director’s ID, the business address, public liability insurance and Companies House status. Documents with expiry dates are re-checked when they expire, and a new provider’s first three jobs are covered by Cleanifiq’s insurance while their own cover is verified. Every review on a provider’s profile comes from a booked, paid job. No check is perfect, so read the reviews and pick someone with a track record for your type of job.
- Yes, you can cancel your booking, but cancellation fees may apply depending on timing. More than 2 weeks before: full refund with no deductions. Between 2 weeks and 2 days before: a payment processing fee of 1.69%–5% (depending on payment method) is retained and the rest is refunded. Less than 2 days before (or failing to pay by 7:30 AM on cleaning day): your deposit is retained as a slot reservation fee. After the provider starts: you owe the minimum callout fee or work completed, whichever is greater. Whenever money comes back to you, you can take it as Cleanifiq credit instead of a refund, sometimes with a bonus on top. This policy keeps things fair for both customers and Manchester providers.
