Is a light clean right for you?

A light clean keeps a tidy home tidy. It doesn't rescue one.

A light clean is the Quick wipe level: light surface cleaning, booked at roughly half the time per room of a full house clean (15 minutes for a bedroom instead of 25). It works when the dirt is a week's worth, not a season's. These are the people it suits, and the one case it doesn't.

Regular top-ups

You keep on top of things yourself and want the dusting, hoovering, mopping and a bathroom and kitchen wipe-down done every week or two. Each booking is a one-off, so you book the next visit when you want it.

Small flats and studios

A studio or one-bed flat lived in by one or two people rarely needs scrubbing. Quick wipe on most areas, perhaps Thorough wipe on the bathroom, usually covers it.

Between deep cleans

Once a deep clean has reset the oven, grout and kitchen units, light cleans keep the surfaces in that state. When the build-up comes back, book the deep clean again rather than asking a quick wipe to shift it.

Before guests arrive

A fast pass through the rooms people will see: surfaces dusted, floors done, the kitchen and the bathroom wiped down. Pick only those areas and leave the rest out of the booking.

When it isn't enough

If it's been months, or surfaces feel greasy or sticky, a quick wipe won't move it in the time it's booked for. Your provider would have to ask you to pay for the extra time. Choose Thorough wipe or Scrubbing required for those areas from the start.

Light or full house clean?

Same rooms, same providers. Different time per area.

Both are booked through the same questionnaire, by the same vetted providers, with the same payment protection. The difference is the level, and so the minutes booked for each area. These are the defaults our pricing engine starts from:

Book a house clean instead if…

  • It has been more than a few weeks since the last proper clean.
  • The bathroom has soap scum, limescale or mould on the sealant.
  • The hob, extractor or worktops feel greasy to the touch.
  • You want every surface fully cleaned, not refreshed. You can also mix: the questionnaire asks for a level per area, so a Quick wipe bedroom and a Thorough wipe bathroom can sit on one booking.

How thorough should it be?

Quick wipe is the light clean. Switch to Thorough wipe to see how little changes on a small home once the minimum call-out applies.

What's included

Everything that's done. Nothing hidden.

A light clean covers the same areas as a house clean, done to the Quick wipe level: light surface cleaning. Your provider cleans every area you select to that level, as set out in the Cleanifiq Service Standards.

Bedrooms & living rooms

  • Accessible surfaces and furniture tops dusted and wiped
  • Sills, radiators and skirting dusted
  • Switches and door handles wiped
  • Light fittings dusted (extension pole for high ones)
  • Floors hoovered and mopped

Bathrooms

  • Bath or shower, basin and toilet wiped down
  • Taps and mirror wiped
  • Floor cleaned

Kitchen

  • Worktops, splashback and sink wiped
  • Unit fronts and the outside of appliances wiped
  • Wood-safe products on wooden worktops
  • Floor cleaned

Halls & stairs

  • Hallways up to 5 m
  • Staircases up to 20 steps count as one
  • Banisters, skirting and doors dusted
  • Floors and stairs hoovered

Appliances, if you tick them

  • Empty fridge: 10 min at Quick wipe
  • Microwave: 5 min
  • Oven: 5 min, a wipe, not a degrease
  • Need the inside of the oven cleaned? Set it to Scrubbing required

Not included

  • Removing limescale, soap scum or mould (choose Scrubbing required for that area)
  • Degreasing the hob, extractor or oven
  • Washing dishes, laundry or ironing
  • Tidying and putting things away: clear surfaces first
  • Anything above 3-step-ladder height, apart from dusting with a pole
  • Built-up dirt after months without a clean: book a deep clean
How often

Weekly, fortnightly, or just when it needs it.

There's no plan to sign up to. These are the patterns a light clean suits, and the point where it stops being enough.

Every week

Suits busy homes: children, pets, two people working from home. A week of dust, crumbs and bathroom use is the job a quick wipe is sized for.

Every two weeks

Suits one or two people in a flat. If the bathroom and kitchen get daily use, set those two to Thorough wipe and leave the rest at Quick wipe.

Once a month or less

By then kitchens and bathrooms usually need more than a wipe. Book a house clean at Thorough wipe, and keep light cleans for the weeks in between.

A deep clean now and then

Inside the oven and units, grout, and behind the appliances aren't part of a quick wipe. A deep clean resets them; light cleans keep everything else in order.

Each visit is a separate, one-off booking: you see live prices each time, and nothing renews or needs cancelling.

How much does a light clean cost in Manchester?

Your price is the time each area takes at Quick wipe, multiplied by your provider's hourly rate. Providers set their own rate, from a minimum of £17.00 an hour, and most also set a minimum call-out (3 hours by default).

That call-out is the number to know before booking a light clean. A quick wipe is short, so on a small home the call-out, not the minutes, usually sets the price. If you're paying for the time anyway, use it: set the kitchen and bathroom to Thorough wipe on the same booking.

No booking fee is added: the price you see is the price you pay. Booking for today or tomorrow can carry a surcharge the provider sets (by default +50% same day, +25% next day).

Labour time at the engine's default minutes, no appliances. A method, not a price list.
HomeLabour timeAt £17.00/hAt £20.00/hAt £25.00/h
1-bed flat, Quick wipe75 min (≈1.3 hours)≈£21.25≈£25.00≈£31.25
2-bed flat, Quick wipe90 min (≈1.5 hours)≈£25.50≈£30.00≈£37.50
3-bed house (2 bathrooms, stairs), Quick wipe135 min (≈2.3 hours)≈£38.25≈£45.00≈£56.25
3-bed house, Quick wipe rooms, Thorough wipe kitchen and bathrooms175 min (≈2.9 hours)≈£49.58≈£58.33≈£72.92
3-bed house, Thorough wipe throughout (a house clean)235 min (≈3.9 hours)≈£66.58≈£78.33≈£97.92

All but the last row are under 180 minutes, so with a 3-hour minimum call-out those homes usually pay the call-out: £51.00–£75.00 at £17.00–£25.00 an hour. Even the mixed 3-bed house, with Thorough wipe on the kitchen and both bathrooms, fits inside it.

Typical Manchester light-clean totals from real Cleanifiq jobs

There aren't enough Manchester light cleans on Cleanifiq yet to publish a typical total: a band only appears here once it rests on at least 10 accepted quotes. The method above and the estimator use the same minutes as the pricing engine.

What affects the price

  • The minimum call-out your provider sets
  • Which areas you include, and at which level
  • Appliances you tick
  • Stairs and hallways longer than 5 m
  • Booking for today or tomorrow

Why prices vary between providers

Providers set their own hourly rate and minimum call-out, so two quotes for the same light clean can differ more than you would expect for a short job. Compare the call-out as much as the hourly rate, and read reviews from similar jobs.

Light cleans in Manchester: the honest picture

A small choice, for now

2 providers sent quotes for light cleans in Manchester in the six months to October 2026, so you may get one quote, or none for your postcode. 3 providers quoted standard house cleans in the same period: if no light-clean quote arrives, ask for the same rooms as a house clean.

Apartments and access

Booked Cleanifiq jobs in Manchester are mostly in Sale (M33), the city centre (M1, M3, M4), Salford (M5, M50) and Hulme (M15). City-centre homes are mostly apartments, so put the fob, concierge or key-safe details in the notes; a light clean is short, and waiting at the door eats into it.

Renting in England

Your tenancy expects the home back as you found it, fair wear and tear aside. Regular light cleans don't replace a clean when you leave, but they stop the build-up that makes one expensive. When you do move out, end of tenancy cleaning is the booking built for the check-out.

FAQ

Light cleaning in Manchester: your questions

Yes, where a provider covers your postcode. 2 providers quoted light cleans in Manchester in the six months to October 2026, so the choice is small for now. Requesting quotes is free: if nobody covers your postcode you'll see that straight away, and you pay nothing unless you book.
Time and depth. A light clean is the Quick wipe level: light surface cleaning, 15 minutes for a bedroom and 15 for a bathroom at default times. A house clean is usually Thorough wipe, complete surface cleaning, at 25 and 30 minutes. Same providers, same checks, same booking, and you can mix the two levels area by area.
Usually not. A quick wipe is booked for the time a lightly used room needs. Grease on the hob, soap scum, limescale or a few weeks of dust need Thorough wipe or Scrubbing required; otherwise your provider will tell you the job is bigger than booked and price the difference for your OK. Start with a deep clean, then keep it there with light cleans.
Yes, as separate bookings. There's no subscription: each visit is a one-off, you see live prices every time, and nothing renews or needs cancelling. Book the next one whenever it suits you.
Because of the minimum call-out. At default times a quick wipe of a 2-bed flat is 90 minutes of work and a thorough wipe is 155. Both are under the 3-hour call-out most providers set, so both usually cost the call-out. If you're paying for the time anyway, set the kitchen and bathroom to Thorough wipe.
It makes the clean go further. A quick wipe is priced for clear surfaces and floors. Wiping around lots of items, or clearing up first, is something your provider can price as an extra on the day, and only with your OK. Put things away, and the booked time goes on cleaning.
No. Your provider brings professional equipment and cleaning products, a 3-step ladder and an extension pole. You can ask for regular, eco-friendly or pet-friendly products when you book.
Tell us within 48 hours of the clean, with photos or a short video of what isn't right. Your provider has 48 working hours to come back and put it right, at no cost to you, and we hold their payment until it is settled. If they can't or won't, you choose: we return the value of the unfinished items (worked out from your original quote) as a refund or as Cleanifiq credit, we set up a new, smaller job for just those items with another provider (you see the price before confirming anything), or both.
Yes, you can cancel your booking, but cancellation fees may apply depending on timing. More than 2 weeks before: full refund with no deductions. Between 2 weeks and 2 days before: a payment processing fee of 1.69%–5% (depending on payment method) is retained and the rest is refunded. Less than 2 days before (or failing to pay by 7:30 AM on cleaning day): your deposit is retained as a slot reservation fee. After the provider starts: you owe the minimum callout fee or work completed, whichever is greater. Whenever money comes back to you, you can take it as Cleanifiq credit instead of a refund, sometimes with a bonus on top. This policy keeps things fair for both customers and Manchester providers. If your provider cancels, you never pay a cancellation fee: you choose a replacement provider (you see their price first) or a full refund.
We don't publish a Manchester figure yet: none rests on 10 booked jobs. The method is the same everywhere. At default times a quick wipe of a 2-bed flat is 90 minutes of work; providers charge £17.00 to £25.00 an hour and most set a 3-hour minimum call-out, so a small light clean usually costs the call-out, £51.00–£75.00.
